Welcome

15 Minutes from the centres of Bath and Bristol

Pretty Fern Cottage is a National Award Winning Bed and Breakfast surrounded by beautiful countryside nestling in a designated conservation area between Bath and Bristol within a 2 acre smallholding with panoramic 180o views from the rooms, garden and wildlife field.

We are situated  just outside the quiet rural village of Pucklechurch, with the added benefit of being an easy 15 minute drive from the centres of both Bath and Bristol. Lansdown Park and Ride into Bath is conveniently only a short journey from Fern Cottage.  The Bristol Park and Ride is also easily accessible.

Bristol Metrobus

The new Bristol Metrobus has now opened and is just 1 mile away from Fern Cottage. You can use the Lyde Green Park and Ride area to park. The Metrobus starts at Emersons Green and then crosses the road to the Lyde Green Park and Ride area. It runs every 20 minutes and goes straight into Bristol to the Cabot Circus Shopping Centre and then on to Bristol City Centre (the Harbourside).

At the moment the Metrobus is free of charge until Saturday 9th June. Here's the link to the website.  https://travelwest.info/metrobus. You need to purchase the ticket (when the fee applies after 9th June) at the bus stop, this is to save time when people board the bus.

Sue cooking for chef Michael Caines OBE and Gary Rhodes

Fern Cottage was one of 5 companies from the whole of the South West to have reached Finalists in the UKTV Food Local Food Hero programme and the only Bed and Breakfast business to have ever been included in the competiton.  We had the excitement of Michael Caines OBE and film crew, spend 6 1/2 hours with us filming Sue cooking.  We then went to Plymouth and cooked our Baked Egg and Heavenly Devilled Pigs Kidneys on Hot Buttered Toast Specials for Gary Rhodes. See the video below. This prestigious award pays tribute to people like us who go that extra mile to bring fantastic local food to your shopping bags, homes, pubs, bed and breakfast and restaurant tables.

Ruth Watson mean business!!

We were contacted by the Ruth Watson programme "Ruth Watson Means Business!!" to see if we would like to be exemplars of how it should be done as they were filming a Tea Room in Bradford on Avon who had received critical reviews on TripAdvisor about various topics, from the quality of their scones, using plastic tablecloths and paper serviettes etc.  During filming the couple from the tea rooms tasted my home made scones, home made jam and local organic Jersey clotted cream.
