Breakfast

All of our breakfast dishes are made using only the best local, homemade, seasonal and British produce where possible. We are proud to have won GOLD for Gloucestershire from the Taste of the West Food & Drink Awards for the 3rd year running 2008/2009. We won Bed and Breakfast of the Year from the Taste of the West Food & Drink Awards 2007/2008 for the 2nd year running!!.


Enjoy our delicious Award Winning breakfasts in our dining room (which is solely for the use of guests). Using only the freshest ingredients, you can be sure that your breakfast has only travelled the minimum amount of food miles. The bread, sausages, bacon tomatoes, potatoes, eggs, kidneys, jams/marmalades, flapjacks/biscuits, soft fruit have travelled less than 5 miles to get to your plate!

Days Cottage Apple Juice (made from un-sprayed apples grown in Gloucestershire orchards)

Cereals:  Sue's homemade Granola made with local honey, dried berries and nuts or Kellogs

Homemade Fresh Fruit Salad (including some of our home grown/ local seasonal fruits)

Homemade Date, Banana and Walnut Yoghurt using Yeo Valley Organic Yoghurt

Home Made Seasonal Fruit Compote layered with Yeo Valley Organic Yoghurt

PJs Farm locally produced rare breed “Old English” pork sausage

PJs Farm rare breed maple cured bacon and Manor Kitchen “maple” cured bacon (specially cured for us)

Fern Cottage “Heavenly Devilled” Pigs Kidneys (locally produced rare breed pigs kidneys from PJs Farm)

(for vegetarians, we can do "Heavenly Devilled Mushrooms)

*(v) Homemade Potato and Chive Griddle Cake (made with Edgar’s local potatoes and our own homegrown chives)

Sautéed fresh mushrooms,

Homegrown/Siston Nurseries fresh grilled tomatoes (when in season) and our own fresh eggs, which can be poached or fried (fried in R-Oil cold pressed rapeseed oil)

 Baked egg, maple cured bacon, fresh mushrooms, a dash of Ivy Farm Organic butter,

Ivy Farm Organic Jersey double cream, a sprinkle of locally made Maryland Mature Cheddar cheese and of course our own delicious eggs (and as my dad would say “and a little bit of magic!”) 

Vegetarian Option:  Baked egg with mushrooms and homegrown courgette (no bacon)

 Locally poached smoked (undyed) haddock from David Felce, poached egg, 2 potato and chive griddle scones and a fresh grilled tomato

Fern Cottage “Heavenly Devilled Pigs Kidneys”

Using PJs Farm free range pigs kidneys -  heavenly devilled pigs kidneys served on hot buttered toast with Jamie’s maple cured bacon grilled, a poached egg and home grown/local grilled tomato and garnished with home grown chopped parsley.  Vegetarian option:  "Heavenly Devilled Mushrooms" on hot buttered toast etc

Omelette made from our own fresh eggs, our homegrown herbs (parsley and chives) sautéed fresh mushrooms and Jamie’s “maple” cured bacon grilled.  Vegetarian option without bacon

 Seasonal homemade jams and marmalades (or as long as it takes to run out!)

 Frome Valley locally produced honey

  Miles West Country Tea/coffee.  A large selection of herbal/fruit teas (Pukka Herbs)
